Each week we feature a Caribbean farmer and use our platform to remind them just how important we know they are to us. This week, we had the privilege of interviewing farmer Jesse from "Sparkle Farms JA" and these were his responses to some of our questions.

Where’s your farm located?
Our farm is located in St James, Jamaica
How did you get started In farming?
Our family has always farmed. It was something we grew up with, so it was natural to carry it on.
What crops do you specialize in cultivating?
We specialize in Plantains and Pumpkins at this time.
How expensive is it to do what you do?
It can be quite expensive. You need money to buy/lease the land, buy the produce, hire people to maintain the land. Storage. The list goes on and on.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years we would want to triple the size of our land and diversify our crops, hopefully moving into sugar cane and mango production.
Any words of wisdom to aspiring farmers?
Don't give up. Its going to be tough, but its worth it.
