Cornmeal Pudding ✅ - Also referred to as cornmeal pone is a flavorful dessert made from cornmeal, coconut milk, raisins, and spices. It is firm pudding consistency with a sweet and creamy coconut custard topping. Some chefs get creative and add raisins with a coconut glazed topping but the base ingredients and way of preparing it are usually the same. Toto Cake ✅ - (pronounced toe-to cake): This is a traditional Caribbean dessert that is served throughout the region for any occasion. It is a very easy dish to cook with its coconut flavor being the key element of this traditional dish. (NewsFlash! I love coconut anything 😍). Its origins are deeply rooted in slavery; stories told throughout the region were that at night, slaves were hungry from being starved all day & would make TOTO to survive. It was made the traditional way combining coconut, molasses, flour and spices baked with fire coals place on top of a metal sheet covering the cake pan with fire beneath the cake pan.Want to add a caption to this image?
